Antioch Triumphs Over Dunlap in State Semifinal

In Peoria, Antioch’s freshman left fielder Rylee Dunlavy had an impressive game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and scoring twice. Her performance played a crucial role in Antioch’s victory over Dunlap in the Class 3A state semifinal at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex. The Sequoits secured a spot in the state championship game set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Dunlavy’s triple contributed to a dominant four-run first inning, helping Antioch reach a 33-3 record. They will face either Chatham Glenwood, boasting a 29-2 record, or Fenwick, who stand at 22-11. This marks Antioch’s third journey to the state final in the past four years.

Freshman first baseman Kylie Pfleeger also made her mark with a triple, bringing in two runs. On the mound, freshman pitcher Pearl Wenzel delivered a strong performance. She allowed one run from six hits and two walks, striking out twice over seven innings, raising her record to an impressive 16-0.

Senior designated player Kailyn Bockwoldt contributed with two hits and an RBI, while senior catcher Addie Webb hit a pivotal two-run single.
