Jheyco Borda, a Marine veteran, recounted a life-threatening incident captured by surveillance. A group of teens approached him while he was fixing his car, with one young man allegedly pointing a gun at his face in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Wednesday afternoon.
Borda heroically tackled the armed teen after the suspect demanded his car keys, phone, and other valuables. The confrontation was intense: a gunshot was heard, yet miraculously, it caused no injuries, even as it pierced the back of Borda’s truck.
‘I was fearing for my life,’ Borda said.
Borda expressed that adrenaline and prior training as a Marine helped him react swiftly. He pointed to his military experience as critical to averting further violence during the assault.
There were six attackers in total: four males and two females. Borda’s brother also helped intervene, confronting the teens at a crucial moment, as shown on the surveillance footage.
The Prince George’s County Police Department has confirmed the arrest of two male suspects involved. The investigation is ongoing to determine the involvement of the other four participants.
This incident isn’t isolated. Borda noted a similar event along his street two years ago, where another group stole a vehicle at the same location.
