Spurs Triumph Over Knicks in Game 3 of 2026 NBA Finals

4 days ago 0

Madison Square Garden was charged with excitement as New York hosted its first NBA Finals game since 1999. The New York Knicks held a strong 2-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs, prompting the Spurs to approach the game with a must-win mindset.

Spurs star Victor Wembanyama made a notable impact, determined to prevent a 3-0 series deficit. As the newly crowned NBA Defensive Player of the Year, he delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 32 points with 11-for-18 shooting. He also added eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and two steals, leading the Spurs to a 115-111 victory.

“The hardest is still to come.” – Victor Wembanyama

After the game, Wembanyama initially missed his postgame interview with Lisa Salters but later returned to share his thoughts. He expressed faith in his teammates and a clear focus on future challenges. The interview quickly gained attention online due to the striking height difference between the towering Wembanyama at 7-foot-4 and Salters. Fans humorously commented on social media about the visual mismatch.

Messages flooded in with humorous observations, with one fan noting Salters’ raised arm resembled the Statue of Liberty, yet still fell short of reaching Wembanyama’s mouth. Another suggested providing Salters with a stool, while some likened the setup to an amusing Statue of Liberty interview.

Adding to the moment, Spurs All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox interjected during the interview, urging an end to the day. “It’s midnight, man, let’s go!” he remarked. Fox has highlighted Wembanyama’s strong adherence to his sleep routine, revealing that Wembanyama avoids blue light after 9 p.m., reads books, and wears blue light glasses post-games.

Fox praised Wembanyama’s dedication to his body and craft, underscoring his professional approach despite being 22 years old. Such focus will be critical as the Spurs aim to win the NBA Finals and claim the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Securing the Knicks’ first loss since April 23 marked a step in the right direction. The Spurs will aim to balance the series in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
