Dallas Bowen: Rising Star at Hanover Central

3 days ago 0

Freshman shortstop Dallas Bowen has quickly made a significant impact for Hanover Central. Senior catcher Sienna Stilley, a recruit for Jacksonville State, speaks highly of her teammate, emphasizing Bowen’s reliability in critical moments. ‘I choose her every single time,’ Stilley states, acknowledging Bowen’s ability to handle game-deciding plays.

Bowen, though only a freshman, conducts herself with the experience of a seasoned player. Stilley describes Bowen as not only talented and hardworking but also genuine and uplifting. Bowen’s positive influence extends beyond her athletic performance, as her presence and attitude encourage her teammates.

As the Wildcats, posting a record of 25-6, prepare for their second consecutive Class 3A state championship game, Bowen’s contributions are evident. She has achieved a batting average of .371, hit six home runs, and logged a team-high in triples, runs, and stolen bases. Her three-run homer in a recent semistate final cleared the path for the Wildcats’ advancement.

“Just perfect timing and bittersweet,” said Coach Sam Antkiewicz about Bowen joining the team. “She has been an excellent addition, working hard and sharing a strong determination to win.”

Bowen’s role at Hanover Central is part of their quest to add a 3A state championship to their 2002 Class 2A title, after a loss in last year’s final. Bowen appreciates the support of her team, feeling confident in her role and the unity they possess.

Bowen’s excellence draws inspiration from her brothers, Drayk and Dylan. Drayk Bowen, soon to be a senior linebacker for Notre Dame, and Dylan Bowen, recently graduated, have set high standards in their sports careers. Drayk was Indiana’s Mr. Football and won a prestigious national award, while Dylan, a promising shortstop, might soon play professional baseball.

Bowen also plays volleyball and aims to reach high levels of athletic achievement. She envisions playing at competitive programs in the southern United States, naming Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma as potential destinations.

Stilley is confident in Bowen’s potential. ‘She has all the tools to be the greatest athlete,’ she said, recognizing Bowen’s hard work and resilience. Stilley expresses pride in Bowen’s rapid development both as an athlete and as a person.

Bowen prepares to make her mark once more in the state championship against a strong opponent, New Palestine, which has a history of success. Despite the challenges, Bowen and her teammates share a vision of excellence and camaraderie. Their mutual support and persistence have defined their remarkable season.
