James Handy, an actor recognized for roles in “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” was reportedly killed by his girlfriend’s son this week in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a call in the 19200 block of Erwin Street on Wednesday morning.
A 911 call informed the police of the incident. The caller stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Upon arrival, officers discovered Handy, aged 81, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to his chest.
Authorities transported Handy to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The LAPD identified Michael Gledhill, 44, of Tarzana, as the suspect. Gledhill approached officers immediately upon their arrival and confessed he was responsible for the crime.
Gledhill resided at the home with his mother, who was Handy’s girlfriend. Following the arrest, police took Gledhill into custody at the Van Nuys Jail on a murder charge, with bail set at $2 million.
Throughout his career, Handy achieved nearly 150 acting credits according to IMDb. His prolific work included appearances on various TV shows such as “The West Wing,” “9-1-1,” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
