CONCORD, N.C. — Samantha Busch, wife of two-time NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, has expressed gratitude for the support following her husband’s unexpected death at 41. In a recent Instagram post, Samantha, along with her children Brexton and Lennix, thanked fans for their overwhelming support during this challenging time.

She conveyed, “The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.”

Kyle Busch passed away on May 21 due to severe pneumonia that progressed rapidly into sepsis, causing overwhelming complications. The family’s statement released shortly after his death noted that he had suffered from pneumonia for “days to weeks.” His sudden passing shocked the NASCAR community.

At Watkins Glen on May 10, Kyle had expressed feeling unwell, thinking it was a sinus cold. He mentioned needing medical attention after the race. Despite this, he won the Truck Series race in Dover and participated in the All-Star race, finishing 17th, just five days before his death. He also attended the opening of a go-kart track with his son Brexton shortly before his passing.

Samantha’s social media message on Friday was the first statement from the family. “The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain,” Samantha wrote. “Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone.”

Samantha continued, “From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful.”

Kyle Busch was a prominent figure in NASCAR, winning Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019 for Joe Gibbs Racing. He was the younger brother of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch and holds the record for 234 combined victories across NASCAR’s top three national series. His achievements include 63 Cup wins, 102 O’Reilly Auto Parts victories, and 69 in the Truck Series.
