The FBI underwent significant changes in preparation for an unprecedented event hosted on the White House grounds. FBI Director Kash Patel announced via a Wednesday video that the bureau joined forces with the UFC, enrolling around 300 federal agents in hand-to-hand combat training before the UFC Freedom 250 event.
Patel shared on X, “Thanks to the great partnership with @ufc, we’ve seen about 300 agents come through and learn amazing tactics so they can safeguard American lives,” alongside video clips from the training sessions. The collaboration reportedly stemmed from Patel’s direct connection with UFC chief Dana White.
The FBI’s Rapid Response team praised the partnership, sharing footage of their training and expressing enthusiasm with comments like “Greatest fighters in the world meet greatest cops in the world!” UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje also participated, having previously helped train FBI agents and personnel at the bureau’s Special Agent Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Recent footage revealed Gaethje using the FBI Headquarters as a training ground before his upcoming lightweight title fight at UFC Freedom 250 against Ilia Topuria. President Donald Trump hosted UFC fighters Ilia Topuria, Justin Gaethje, and Ciryl Gane in the Oval Office on May 6, 2026, to discuss the event scheduled for June 14 outside the White House.
The fighters planned to use the Eisenhower Executive Office Building for their preparations before entering “The Claw,” a sizable Octagon structure on the South Lawn. Adding excitement, thrill-seeker Travis Pastrana is set to perform a surprise stunt for the main card broadcast. A video released by Dana White hinted at Pastrana possibly back-flipping his dirt bike over the South Lawn.
The idea of federal agents training with UFC fighters, a contender working out at FBI headquarters, and a UFC event on White House property might have seemed improbable years ago. However, this initiative has become a highly anticipated occasion.
