Joan Collins Offers Insights into Graceful Aging

3 hours ago 0

Joan Collins, known for her role in “Dynasty,” remains active at 93, now starring in “My Duchess.” She shares her thoughts on aging gracefully. “I love life,” Collins said at Variety’s Women of Power event. “Each day I wake up, enjoy the air, sleep well, drink water, and take care of myself.”

The actress, promoting her new movie at Cannes, finds inspiration in watching “old movies”. Collins enjoys films from the ’80s and ’90s with stars like Jack Nicholson. She shared, “Old Bette Davis films are rare, but I love those decades of cinema.”

Collins, an Emmy-nominee, continues to prioritize fitness. Speaking with The Telegraph, she described her routine: “I work out with a trainer and prefer Pilates exercises. I find other methods, like reformer machines, less appealing.”

Walking isn’t a favorite activity for Collins. “It bores me,” she said. “I walk in my apartment, adjusting flowers. It sounds silly, but it’s true.” The actress attributes her longevity to good genes. “My father lived to 87, born in 1903,” she noted, crediting her mother’s care and early introduction to supplements.

Another aspect of her youthful energy is her relationship with her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, 32 years her junior. The couple married in 2002. Collins remarked, “We were friends before marriage, enjoying plays and writing letters. We shared a strong bond before realizing our compatibility.”

Collins described Gibson as grounded and kind. Reflecting on previous relationships, she observed that some partners were “neurotic or unbalanced.” Their age gap is unimportant to her; she believes love can happen at any age. “It’s never too late,” Collins said.

In her memoir, “Behind the Shoulder Pads: Tales I Tell My Friends,” Collins shared that enthusiasm for life bridges their age difference. “Percy admits I can tire him out,” she humorously noted.

Reflecting on life, Collins concluded, “Life is a gift, and many waste it. It’s a present and doesn’t last forever.” Her vitality and zest continue to inspire, proving age is truly just a number.
