The Justice Department announced the arrest of five individuals accused of planning an attack on this weekend’s UFC event at the White House. According to an arrest document, one of the suspects is identified as a 19-year-old from Ohio. This individual reportedly conspired with a group of extremists holding ultra-religious and anti-government views.

This group aimed to target the high-profile event, according to law enforcement officials. Their plan included tactics designed to cause significant disruption and harm. The suspects were apprehended following an investigation by federal authorities, which uncovered their intentions.

Ali Rogin, a correspondent for PBS News Hour, reports on the incident. Specializing in Supreme Court and America’s judicial system coverage, she has received multiple accolades for her investigative work. In 2021, Rogin was awarded a Peabody Award for her contributions to News Hour’s series on the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
