Trump’s Endorsed Candidate Secures GOP Senate Nomination in Alabama Runoff

2 hours ago 0

President Donald Trump celebrated a win in Alabama’s Republican Senate runoff election, with Trump-endorsed representative Barry Moore clinching the GOP nomination. Moore triumphed over Jared Hudson, a former Navy SEAL sniper, as reported by the Associated Press.

Moore and Hudson were the leading contenders in last month’s Republican primary. Neither secured more than 50% of the vote, leading to their subsequent advance to the runoff.

Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama, pictured saluting during the final night of the 2025 Republican National Convention, is campaigning for the U.S. Senate in the 2026 elections. Moore has garnered endorsements from both Vice President JD Vance and Senate Majority Leader Sen. John Thune. He is now a frontrunner in the race to fill the seat of Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is seeking the governorship rather than re-election to the Senate.

Moore, a waste hauling company founder and former state lawmaker, was first elected to the U.S. House in 2020. He was among the earliest supporters of Trump during his 2015 presidential run.

These midterm races will determine whether Republicans hold their Senate majority.

Hudson, portraying himself as an outsider, narrowly surpassed state Attorney General Steve Marshall to reach the runoff. Besides his military background, Hudson’s experience includes roles as a sheriff’s deputy, firefighter, small business owner, and leader of a nonprofit focused on law enforcement training against human trafficking.

Hudson was endorsed by former Sen. Markwayne Mullin, now serving as Trump’s Department of Homeland Security secretary, alongside Sen. Tim Sheehy, the National Association for Gun Rights PAC, and media figure Riley Gaines. Despite these endorsements, Moore emerged victorious. He will compete in November against either Dakarai Larriett, a pet care business owner, or attorney and former judge Everett Wess.
