Search for Missing Giraffe in Texas Continues

1 day ago 0

Gracie, a distinctive giraffe known for her large neck and lengthy legs, has gone missing from a Texas ranch. The search for her is ongoing after a recent tip led nowhere, according to the property’s manager.

The owner of the ranch is offering a $5,000 reward for her safe return, as announced by Real County officials. Gracie is one of two giraffes on Cedar Hollow Ranch, located approximately 100 miles northwest of San Antonio.

The last sighting reported was through a game camera near Leakey. Cedar Hollow Ranch hosts several hundred animals, including impalas, Nubian ibexes, and an antelope species originating from Central Africa.

Gracie, who is 3 or 4 years old, arrived at the ranch in May. Jones, the ranch manager, stated that she wandered off after grazing in an area usually avoided by other giraffes. She exited through an unfenced area adjoining an 8-foot gate.

Efforts to locate her included searching an area 4 miles away from the ranch based on images provided by a tipster. Unfortunately, these photos were several days old, and Gracie was not found there.

The search will persist until Gracie is found, says Jones. The quest has drawn widespread attention with many involved in attempting to locate her.
