Xander Schauffele, along with many others, is gearing up for a weekend of excitement in New England following intense play in the Hamptons. The PGA Tour is moving to TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut for the well-loved Travelers Championship. This follows the challenging U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
At the U.S. Open, only three players managed to finish under par. The Travelers, however, offers a different experience. Scottie Scheffler’s win two years ago required a playoff at 22-under, and this is where Jim Furyk famously shot his record 58.

Schauffele, the 2022 Travelers winner, shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital after a practice session. “I didn’t even mind the rain today,” he said, enjoying a break from Shinnecock where he finished T11 with a score of +2.
The event following the U.S. Open is a favorite for Schauffele, a two-time major winner. This year, with a tougher course layout, scores in the minus-20s are unlikely. Last year, Keegan Bradley won with a score of -15.
Schauffele appreciates the challenges at TPC River Highlands. “There’s plenty of tricky spots. If you can get in the zone, you can shoot seven or eight under, but some days you might feel like you’re losing shots,” Schauffele explained. The recent course changes, including narrowing and added rough, enhance the experience.

The Travelers Championship is not just about challenging play. The event’s exceptional hospitality is a major draw. From great food to thoughtful gifts for both players and their partners, the event fosters a welcoming atmosphere.

This year’s Travelers Championship begins Thursday morning. Schauffele will play alongside three-time Ryder Cup teammate Collin Morikawa at 10:55 a.m. ET.
