Terrance Gore, the former outfielder for the Kansas City Royals and a winner of the World Series, has died at the age of 34, as confirmed by Major League Baseball.
Gore was part of the Royals’ squad during their consecutive victories in the American League Championship Series in 2014 and 2015, along with their triumph in the 2015 World Series. The Kansas City Royals expressed their grief over Gore’s passing in a statement, saying, “We are heartbroken from the loss of Terrance Gore, and send our love to his family and loved ones.” However, the details surrounding his death remain unclear at this time.
Major League Baseball expressed its sorrow through an official statement, describing Gore’s death as both “shocking and saddening.” The league paid tribute to the former player, highlighting him as a “speedy outfielder and pinch-running specialist.” During his regular-season career, Gore successfully stole 43 bases, being caught only nine times.
“He was 5-for-6 in Postseason stolen base attempts and stole 324 bases in 11 Minor League seasons,” noted MLB.
Gore’s major league career spanned eight seasons, from 2014 to 2022, during which he also played for the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets. The Dodgers joined in expressing their condolences upon learning of Gore’s untimely demise.
