Junior midfielder Lindsay Ingemunson excels on the soccer field for Yorkville, displaying impressive skill and determination. “The momentum of the game changes greatly after scoring,” Ingemunson remarked regarding her accomplishment of achieving a hat trick. “Everyone wants to keep pushing forward.”
Despite a challenging start to the season, and a subsequent losing streak, Ingemunson’s focus on keeping the team motivated paid off, particularly on a Wednesday night clash with West Aurora.
In the Class 3A Naperville Central Regional semifinal, Ingemunson scored three goals, securing a 4-2 victory for Yorkville. Freshman forward Jaretzy Rodriguez netted a goal in the 35th minute, while Katherine Perez brought West Aurora (11-4-2) to a 2-2 tie in the 56th minute.

Ingemunson, however, tipped the scales by converting penalty kicks in the 63rd and 68th minutes for 10th-seeded Yorkville (10-6), allowing the team to avenge an earlier 4-2 season-opening loss to West Aurora and move on to the regional title match on Friday.
Freshman forward Hannah Sester, who netted Yorkville’s first goal in the 43rd minute, praised Ingemunson’s prowess. “Lindsay is obviously a formidable offensive player,” Sester stated. “Her speed and tenacity ensure that she consistently wins 50-50 balls, and her footwork is excellent.” Senior defender Amy Guzman assisted on Sester’s goal with a free kick, while Ingemunson scored her first goal merely seconds later for a 2-1 lead.

Guzman lauded Ingemunson’s ability, mentioning, “She is strong and fast; whenever we connect with her, she often disrupts the opposing defense.” Beyond her on-field accomplishments, Guzman added, “Lindsay brings fun and humor to our team environment.”
Ingemunson’s performance elevated her season goals to 31, marking her fifth hat trick of the season. Before her high school debut, she scored 17 goals and assisted nine times, blending size, speed, and strategic movement.

“I make use of my height and strength to maintain control,” Ingemunson explained. “Our team excels at utilizing space and creating opportunities for wide plays, allowing me to be in the right spot.”
As the youngest of four siblings, Ingemunson always sought to stand out, a trait that fueled her passion for soccer from an early age. Even though her sisters didn’t play soccer and her mom played only during high school, Ingemunson tried various sports but consistently favored soccer.

Joining a boys team in fourth grade was a defining point for her. “That experience offered a new perspective on the game,” Ingemunson said. “Competing alongside my two male cousins at school further rekindles my drive.” Initially balancing basketball with soccer, she eventually dedicated herself solely to soccer.
“Building connections with teammates is invaluable,” she reflected. “These bonds, on and off the field, create some of the best moments.”
