The Indianapolis 500 stands out as a unique race since it is the peak event of the series, yet it happens mid-season after a month-long preparation. Winning it brings enormous excitement, followed by a whirlwind week. Felix Rosenqvist emerged victorious in this year’s iconic race, but his schedule left little room for rest as he prepared for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
After securing his win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 24, 2026, Rosenqvist’s obligations began almost immediately. His post-race activities included hours of media interviews. The next day, he continued with more interviews, a photo session, and attended the Victory Celebration that night.
“Obviously, (I’m) tired, but I had fun with it,” Rosenqvist stated. “There were a lot of interviews, but you’ve got to strike when the iron is hot, right?”
His busy itinerary took him to New York for additional media appearances, including visits to landmarks like the Empire State Building and Times Square. He attended the red-carpet premiere of “Pressure,” a film by Indy 500 Grand Marshal Brendan Fraser. Despite his busy schedule in New York, Rosenqvist returned to Indianapolis to complete more interviews and even threw the first pitch at a Tigers game before moving to Detroit for the next race.
Notably, this hectic period came shortly after Rosenqvist welcomed a new chapter in his personal life, becoming a father just two weeks prior to his Indy 500 triumph.
The excitement from his win aims to bolster interest in motorsports. Rosenqvist emphasized the importance of using this moment to enhance the sport’s visibility. His victory was memorable, marking the closest finish in Indianapolis 500 history, adding further exhilaration to his swift return to the circuit.
As Felix Rosenqvist gears up for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, he faces the challenge of starting from the 16th position on the grid. The competition looks tough, with championship leader Alex Palou and Will Power starting at the front. Racing enthusiasts will be eager to see if Rosenqvist can clinch back-to-back wins.
