Since 2009, the Dallas Cowboys have been playing their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. For over a decade, the team has had its headquarters and training facilities at The Star in Frisco, located about 36 miles away from the stadium.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer lives in McKinney, Texas, which is about a 30-minute drive from the team facility. To reduce his daily commute, Schottenheimer plans to sell his current home and move closer to Frisco.
“It really is just time being closer to work, and every minute counts,” said Carrie Himel, a member of the Compass Sports & Entertainment division, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
The 5,700-square-foot house was listed for $3.8 million in mid-April, according to Zillow. The Collin County Appraisal District valued the property at nearly $2 million for tax purposes. Himel mentioned that a buyer quickly showed interest in the property.
“It’s a private, serene oasis,” Himel said. “Every window, or every space, in that house looks at nature. So it really is a special property, it just needed a special buyer. We’re fortunate to get one pretty quickly.”
McKinney is approximately 17 miles away from The Star in Frisco. It is not yet known where Schottenheimer intends to purchase his next home.
The home features four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a movie room, and an infinity-edge pool. It also accommodates three cars in the garage. Built in 2021, the property offers interaction with local wildlife due to its nature-surrounding environment.
In an anecdote, Schottenheimer recalled when an owl flew inside the home through an open sliding door during a game-planning session. The family reached out to animal control for assistance in removing the bird.
Schottenheimer was promoted to head coach in January 2025 after the departure of Mike McCarthy. During his first year, the Cowboys finished with a 7-9-1 record, failing to make it to the playoffs.
