Dunkin’s Nostalgic Super Bowl Ad Brings Back ’90s Sitcom Icons

4 months ago 0

Dunkin’ has taken viewers on a journey back to the 1990s with its star-studded advertisement for the upcoming 2026 Super Bowl. The ad features several well-loved ’90s icons such as Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Jaleel White, Matt LeBlanc, and Ted Danson, along with a special appearance by NFL legend Tom Brady.

In a twist on Dunkin’s traditional ads, Affleck takes center stage in a fictional 1995-set sitcom scene at MIT, titled ‘Good Will Dunkin”—a nod to his iconic film, ‘Good Will Hunting.’ This unique commercial promises a blend of nostalgia and humor, drawing on the charm and style of 1990s sitcoms.

Dunkin’ has reimagined a fictional sitcom featuring a stellar lineup of ’90s celebrities, bringing back the magic of the decade’s beloved TV shows.

Joining Affleck in this nostalgic venture are familiar faces such as Jennifer Aniston, known for ‘Friends,’ and Matt LeBlanc, who, as Joey from ‘Friends,’ delivers his infamous line, ‘How you doin’?’ Additionally, the ad includes appearances by Jason Alexander, Jasmine Guy, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Ted Danson, whose role as Sam Malone in ‘Cheers’ made him a household name.

Jaleel White, famed for his portrayal of Steve Urkel in ‘Family Matters,’ expressed his excitement about participating in the project. He recalled Affleck personally inviting him to join the campaign, emphasizing the thrill of being included among such iconic figures of the era. White noted a humorous moment in the ad where Affleck is humorously credited with ‘inventing iced coffee.’

Within the commercial, viewers will see Alexander, acting as a Dunkin’ store manager, jokingly question Affleck, “Hey Will, did you arrange the Munchkins in a Fibonacci sequence? I got a genius workin’ for me.” LeBlanc then chimes in with, “If he’s such a genius, then why’d he put ice in his coffee?” bringing plenty of laughs with references to their classic television roles.

As the story unfolds, Affleck uses LeBlanc’s iconic ‘Friends’ catchphrase while interacting with Jasmine Guy, further emphasizing the nostalgic theme. Ribeiro’s character holds up a picture of Aniston, inquiring, “Don’t you have a girlfriend?” This prompts Affleck to respond with another famous ‘Friends’ reference, “We were on a break.” Danson then makes his much-anticipated appearance, reflecting on his ‘Cheers’ character in the familiar setting of a bar-like counter.

Concluding the star lineup, Aniston engages with Affleck at the donut shop window, adding to the ’90s star power. Tom Brady’s addition to this nostalgic showcase enhances the sense of familiarity and warmth associated with the decade.

White commented on the broader appeal of the ad, noting, “I think they really had their finger on the pulse of people to revisit what the ’90s were. It’s never coming back like that—everything from the styles to the way we spoke, there’s something about that decade that’s damn magical.”

Recalling his college days while filming ‘Family Matters,’ White shared personal memories, such as witnessing Michael Jordan film ‘Space Jam’ on the same Warner Bros. lot. Despite not being a coffee enthusiast due to a sensitivity to caffeine, White has a clear preference for donuts, particularly classic maple with sprinkles and apple fritters.

As for his Super Bowl LX hopes, White cheerfully echoed a popular sentiment, “I just hope it’s a good game,” alluding to Tom Brady’s celebrated Super Bowl appearances.
