On Wednesday night, a tragedy unfolded at a high school graduation in Northern California, resulting in one death and three injuries, as reported by officials. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Sem Yeto High School’s graduation ceremony, hosted at Fairfield High School, located southwest of Sacramento.
According to the Fairfield Police Department spokesperson, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining three were taken to local hospitals. The nature of their injuries remains unknown as officials seek more details.
Mayor Alma Hernandez of Suisun City shared in a Facebook post that law enforcement is actively searching for the suspect.
A Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District representative confirmed to CBS News Sacramento that the shooting occurred after the conclusion of the graduation ceremony. The identities and ages of the victims have not been released as investigations continue. Details surrounding the shooting incident and details about the suspect remain unclear.
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is aiding the Fairfield Police Department with the inquiry. Sem Yeto High School, a continuation school, is situated alongside Fairfield High.
