Indiana Substitute Teacher Sentenced for Sending Inappropriate Images

3 weeks ago 0

A substitute teacher in Indiana, Cassidy Carter, has been sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty to charges related to sending nude images to a minor. Carter, involved in a case with a 14-year-old middle school student, faced accusations of sending these images while working at South Dearborn Community School Corporation.

Initially charged with child solicitation, the charges were adjusted due to the victim’s relocation and lack of desire to participate in the case, as reported by WXIX-TV. This led Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens to pursue different charges. Carter received a two-day credit for time served.

The case emerged when the student reported the situation to a school resource officer in December 2023, who then informed the principal. Court records revealed that Carter, 21 years old at the time, became acquainted with the student through Snapchat. During their interactions, Carter allegedly sent the student nude images regularly, often after showering, and communicated feelings of love toward him.

Authorities discovered incriminating photos and messages on Carter’s phone, which were part of the evidence used by prosecutors. This case has highlighted the ongoing concerns over inappropriate relationships and the responsibilities of educators.
