Legal Proceedings for Former Speedskater’s Abuse Claims Move Forward

4 days ago 0

Bridie Farrell, a former competitive speedskater, initiated a lawsuit against the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and U.S. Speedskating in 2020. She accused them of neglecting to shield her from sexual abuse by Andy Gabel, a former Olympic speedskater.

A federal judge has now allowed the case to advance towards trial. This decision came nearly six years after Farrell filed her lawsuit, as the judge dismissed efforts by the organizations to have the case thrown out.
