Maitland Ward Criticizes ‘Euphoria’ for Its Portrayal of OnlyFans

2 weeks ago 0

Former Disney star Maitland Ward has expressed strong disagreement with the depiction of an OnlyFans model in the third season of ‘Euphoria’. This critique focuses on the character Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney. In an interview with TMZ, Ward, 49, who is now an adult film actress and OnlyFans creator, raised concerns over certain scenes involving Cassie. She cited moments where Cassie is portrayed with a pacifier, styled childishly, and dressed in sheer clothing.

Ward stressed, “There’s a lot you can’t do on OnlyFans.” She emphasized the importance of abiding by guidelines to prevent any connection with child-like portrayals, which she finds “disgusting.” According to Ward, breaching such standards could result in expulsion from OnlyFans.

Maitland Ward says OnlyFans has guidelines and rules to keep harmful elements away.

In the series, Cassie resorts to OnlyFans initially to fund her wedding and subsequently to support herself. This decision follows the revelation that her husband, Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, is deeply in debt. The portrayal includes scenes where Cassie engages in activities that Ward argues misrepresent OnlyFans creators.

Ward believes the show portrays creators as “weird and creepy,” undermining the genuine work of many OnlyFans creators. She stated, “It’s disingenuous to make fun of them rather than celebrate them.” Ward also pointed out that the show perpetuates harmful stereotypes about sex workers.

This portrayal treats sex work like a circus act—a freak show.

Ward criticized how the portrayal simplifies sex workers into clichés, pointing out the use of a ‘blonde stereotype’ doing extreme acts for attention. She argues this feeds damaging stereotypes, which many sex workers actively fight against. The portrayal, according to Ward, treats sex work as a joke.

As a former child actress, Ward has shared her experiences of being in the industry from a young age. Reflecting on her career in shows like “Boy Meets World,” she described the experience as being molded by the industry into something the studios wanted.

Ward’s transition to adult films has led her to feel more respected within Hollywood. Discussing this aspect with Fox News Digital, Ward expressed surprise at the positive reception she received, contrary to expectations of backlash.
