Authorities in Germany are actively searching for a suspect identified as Abdul B. He is accused of driving a van into Berlin’s Pride festival, resulting in the death of one person and injuring at least 16 others.

According to the police, Abdul B. is 21 years old and has documented connections to Islamist groups. However, no arrests have been made as the search for him intensifies across the capital.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. local time on Saturday when a white van rammed into a crowd gathered at a Pride event in Tiergarten Park. The van struck several individuals before crashing into a tree.

The fatality was confirmed three hours later. Several of those injured were attacked with stabbing weapons during the incident. The suspect, believed to have left the vehicle, was described as wearing a black hoodie and white pants, with a slim build, around six feet two inches tall, and having black hair.

Police have cautioned the public to steer clear of the suspect due to the possibility that he is armed and dangerous. A police spokesperson, Florian Nath, stated, “The suspect is known to police. Our search for this person is proceeding at full speed.”

Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed his outrage on X, saying, “What an abhorrent act in Berlin.”

This is an ongoing situation and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
