Brian Hooker’s friend has noted that a $33,000 thermal camera on his boat was not used when his wife went missing. The incident occurred on the night of April 4, after the couple left Hope Town in the Bahamas. Brian Hooker reported Lynette fell overboard at around 7:30 p.m., due to choppy waters. He reached Marsh Harbour at approximately 4 a.m. on April 5.
The couple, owning a sailboat as their retirement home, sailed frequently around the U.S. and Caribbean. This information is confirmed by their social media profiles.
Unique Equipment Not Utilized
Daniel Danforth, a friend of the couple, informed Fox News Digital that the sailboat, named Soulmate, featured a high-tech FLIR system. This system can detect heat signatures and offers night vision capabilities. He expressed confusion over why Brian Hooker did not use it in the search for Lynette.
Danforth recollected a previous interaction with Brian Hooker in New Orleans, where Hooker demonstrated the camera’s ability to automatically track heat signatures. Danforth considered this infrared camera as the logical first choice in any rescue attempt.
Investigative Developments
The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating Lynette’s disappearance. They seized the sailboat Soulmate between May 8 and 10, based on Danforth’s information about the thermal camera. Danforth mentioned to the Coast Guard that he had alerted them before the seizure, and they had plans to retrieve potential data from the system.
Brian Hooker returned to the U.S. reportedly because of his ailing mother. Although detained by police for five days, no charges were filed. His attorney urged people to withhold judgment and empathize with Hooker’s situation.
Authorities continue to seek information. Fox News Digital has reached out to both Hooker’s attorney and the Coast Guard for further comments.
