Shots Fired Near White House Grounds

Law enforcement authorities responded to gunfire near the White House, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. On Saturday, journalists at the scene heard gunshots and were instructed to take shelter in the press briefing room. U.S. Secret Service officers kept them inside for safety. No injuries were immediately reported.

The Secret Service confirmed via social media that they were “aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW,” a block from the White House. They were working to verify the reports with their personnel on site.

FBI Director Kash Patel communicated on social media that officers were addressing the situation and promised to provide updates to the public as information became available. At the time of the incident, President Donald Trump was in the White House.

The Metropolitan Police Department did not provide any immediate information regarding the incident.
