Trump Announces Tariffs on Canadian Goods Pending Trade Barrier Resolution

1 week ago 0

President Donald Trump has announced that tariffs of 50 percent will be implemented on a wide range of Canadian goods. These tariffs will go into effect in 30 days unless Canada withdraws what the U.S. administration describes as “discriminatory” trade barriers against American products.

The announcement was made on Monday, with the president emphasizing the need for fairness in trade between the two nations.

This decision follows a recent meeting between President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ankara, Turkey, during a NATO gathering. The tariffs aim to address concerns raised by the U.S. regarding trade practices that it views as unfavorable to its economic interests.
