Search Efforts Initiated
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a missing 5-year-old girl who was reportedly taken by her father on Sunday. An AMBER Alert has been issued for Amaya Meithof, who went missing from a residence in Carson City, Nevada, around 4:36 a.m.
Authorities suspect she is with her father, Christopher Meithof, 41. He is believed to be moving south toward Quartz Hill, California. His last known residence is in Federal Way, Washington.
Details on Suspect and Vehicle
Officials urge the public to remain vigilant and to report sightings of the suspect’s vehicle. It is a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Oregon license plate 576 QNU.
Suspect Description: Christopher Meithof stands 6 feet tall, weighs around 170 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes.
Victim Description: Amaya Meithof was wearing a blue princess nightgown when last seen. She suffers from common allergies but is otherwise healthy.
According to public records accessed by Newsweek, Christopher Meithof is on parole, with past convictions for burglary and weapons possession. He is confirmed as the girl’s father. No new information regarding their whereabouts was available from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office as of midday Monday.
Mother’s Plea for Help
Crystal Rose, the child’s mother, has made heartfelt appeals on social media, asking the community in Carson City to assist in finding her daughter.
“He came to visit her and took her and disappeared,” she shared on Facebook. “I didn’t want it to come to this but this is not how we do things.”
She continued by asking, “Please share this post with everyone you know. Please help me bring my peachy home safe.”
