Authorities have identified a suspect in the shooting incident near Toledo’s Old West End Festival that resulted in 12 injuries. They are currently searching for a second suspected gunman.
The Toledo Police Department announced they are actively searching for Ka Nye Taylor. Taylor faces 11 counts of felonious assault in relation to the June 6 shooting near the festival, which is known for its live music, food vendors, and home tours. Taylor is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
“Heffernan believes at least two gunmen were involved.”
A photo of the second suspected gunman has been released, although the individual remains unidentified.
The shooting occurred near Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, close to the festival grounds, at approximately 5:37 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers discovered several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities later confirmed all 12 victims, aged between 14 and 61, are in stable condition, with most in their early 20s.
Police believe the gunfire followed a foot chase and assault involving two rival groups at the festival. Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan suggested the gunmen were possibly shooting at each other.
Authorities are appealing to the public for information about Taylor’s whereabouts or the identity of the other shooter. Those with information are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. A combined reward of up to $15,000 is offered for information leading to arrests. Crime Stoppers is offering $10,000 and the U.S. Marshals Service has contributed an additional reward of up to $5,000.
Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates has assured that justice for those affected by the violence will be swift and strong, emphasizing the personal impact of the incident given the local ties.
