Spencer Pratt announced the end of his campaign for Los Angeles mayor, choosing to focus on exposing what he perceives as political corruption rather than pursuing political power. In a video shared on social media, Mr. Pratt, a former reality TV star and Republican candidate, appeared to concede after finishing third in the primary election. He received approximately 25% of the vote, trailing behind Democrats Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, who will compete in the November runoff.
Despite pressure from President Trump to allege voter fraud, Mr. Pratt refrained from challenging the election results. Mr. Trump had suggested irregularities in the vote count, questioning Mr. Pratt’s fall to third place following an initial second-place showing. The extended counting process in California was complicated by an influx of mail ballots.
In his three-minute video, Mr. Pratt continued to criticize Ms. Bass and Ms. Raman, labeling them negatively and featuring a montage of stark imagery alongside troubling audio effects. He expressed determination to continue opposing the Democratic candidates, insisting, “I didn’t get in this for political power, I got in this to expose this corrupt machine, and nothing’s changed.”
The video highlighted his resolve to wage what he describes as “war” without the constraints of campaign regulations. His actions underscore his intention to remain a vocal adversary, committed to his belief in exposing improprieties within the political arena.
