The nonprofit America250, established by Congress ten years ago, is organizing a concert in Los Angeles for America’s 250th anniversary on July 4. Unlike President Trump’s Freedom 250 initiative, America250 plans to host events featuring well-known artists.
Smashing Pumpkins, led by Billy Corgan, alongside country star Chris Stapleton, will perform at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Queen Latifah will host the event, titled America’s Block Party, which highlights the ‘Giving 4th’ charity initiative.
Concert tickets are priced at $17.76, reflecting the year of American independence. More performers will be announced in the lead-up to the event. Rosie Rios, chair of America250 and a former Treasury official, emphasized the importance of uniting Americans during this significant milestone.
In addition to the Los Angeles concert, America250 has organized similar ‘block party’ events across the nation, including in Charleston, S.C., Fort Campbell, Ky., New York, and Milwaukee.
