3 hours ago 0

Authorities have charged two individuals in Georgia with the murder of a bartender, Jamal Rashad Parker. The suspects, Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, allegedly dismembered Parker and disposed of his remains in a lake. Their arrest took place on Monday, and they face charges for the murder committed in a home outside of Atlanta, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began when Parker’s remains were found in May in the Dog River Reservoir, approximately 30 miles from Atlanta. DNA comparison technology confirmed Parker’s identity after his father reported that the tattoos on the remains matched his son’s. This information comes from a local report by WSB-TV.

Police reports suggest Barber and Baker killed Parker inside a Douglasville home where Baker resided. Investigators were seen retrieving a reciprocating saw and cleaning supplies from the residence last month. The relationship between Parker and his alleged killers has not been made clear by the police. Nonetheless, a GoFundMe page set up by a family member identified Barber and Baker as individuals Parker knew and trusted.

Parker was described by his family as a bartender, musician, and artist, recognized for his “beautiful soul and spirit.” His loved ones are raising funds for his burial through the GoFundMe platform. Parker’s father, Charles Parker, expressed a strong desire for justice, stating, “I want them to be punished. And I don’t even think a life sentence is good enough.” He shared his disbelief at the violence, saying, “It’s the kind of stuff you see on TV, but I mean … they had no remorse.”

The suspects, Barber and Baker, pleaded not guilty in court and are currently held without bond. Both possess extensive criminal histories. Parker, who also worked at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta, was praised for his passion for life, music, and art. His unexpected death has left his family and friends heartbroken, as stated in the fundraising page, “He loved life and the people he met along his journey in life. He was a musical artist, visual artist, and a professional bartender who enjoyed creating new drinks. This has totally devastated our family and friends and has left us heartbroken.”
