Abduction Case of Nancy Guthrie: Ransom Notes Under Investigation

2 hours ago 0

The abduction of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has gained significant attention. Two ransom notes sent to Guthrie’s family are central to the investigation, as authorities suspect they were sent by the kidnappers responsible for her disappearance.

According to investigators, these notes probably originated from the same computer IP address. The first note demanded millions in bitcoin for her release. However, the second note, arriving days later, claimed Nancy had died, stating it was not their intention for her to die.

In an interview with NBC, Savannah Guthrie expressed belief in the authenticity of these two notes. She mentioned, “There are a lot of different notes, I think, that came… and I didn’t see them. But I believe the two notes that we received, that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real.”

The initial note, sent on February 2 — one day after Nancy disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona residence — included details about her home. Investigators noted specifics like an Apple Watch with a white band on the bedroom floor and a broken back porch light. The note was directly addressed to Savannah Guthrie.

While the second note, sent on February 6, mirrored the style and language of the first, it made no demands. Following this, Savannah and her siblings released an Instagram video addressing the kidnappers. In the video, Savannah said, “We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace… This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The task force composed of FBI and Pima County detectives remains dedicated to solving the case of Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping. They continue to pursue leads in the search for Guthrie and those responsible.
