A sudden gust of wind caused a metal cabana frame to crash into a crowded pool area at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, injuring five people. The accident happened on Saturday evening at the DAER Club, a rooftop venue at the hotel.
The strong winds hit the outdoor section of the venue, leading to a partial collapse of the structure. Five individuals were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Videos posted online showed guests and staff quickly assisting those trapped under the fallen structure. Several people worked to lift sections of the metal frame before emergency responders arrived on the scene.
A witness who was near the area at the time recounted narrowly avoiding being caught beneath the structure. He shared his experience in a social media post, still feeling shocked about the close call.
Fox News Digital had reached out to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for comments on the incident.
A similar incident occurred in New Jersey when a lifeguard was impaled by a beach umbrella that became airborne due to windy conditions at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach. This happened in June 2025.
Due to these incidents, authorities have issued renewed warnings about securing outdoor structures during windy weather, especially in open-air areas like beaches.
