Violence in Chicago Sparks Criticism

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has expressed strong criticism towards Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. The critique follows a violent weekend in Chicago, where eight people died and many others were injured. Blanche accuses the governor of refusing federal assistance to address the violence.

Blanche emphasized the effectiveness of collaboration between local and federal efforts in reducing crime. He highlighted this by comparing the situation in Chicago to crime reduction successes in Washington, D.C., and Memphis.

California Library Shooting Incident

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old named Bradley Scott Sayer has been linked to a tragic shooting episode in Northern California. On Monday, Sayer opened fire in a library in Chico, killing two individuals.

The Chico Police Department reported that Sayer was influenced by the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, among other mass shootings. There were no known connections between Sayer and the library or the victims.

“From the first 911 call to having him in custody was less than four minutes,” stated Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge.

Sayer allegedly performed a walkthrough of the library before retrieving a shotgun from his car. Of the eight shots fired, Jacob Hull, 46, and Robert Johnson, 74, were killed. An underage girl was also injured but treated at a hospital.

Upon police arrival, officers established a perimeter, swiftly apprehending Sayer when he exited the building. During the investigation, two additional firearms were found in Sayer’s vehicle. Authorities are exploring how he acquired these weapons.

Details on the Suspect

Sayer recently graduated from Chico High School. The FBI’s Sacramento office, led by Special Agent Sid Patel, confirmed his graduation date as June 5.

At the time of the shooting, Sayer wore a T-shirt with the words “natural selection.” This mirrored the attire of Eric Harris, one of the Columbine shooters. Michael Ramsey, the Butte County District Attorney, noted Sayer’s long-standing fascination with the Columbine events on social media.

Sayer is set to be arraigned on Thursday, as confirmed by Ramsey.
