Recently, former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has criticized President Donald Trump’s endorsement decisions following his support for Republican Representative María Elvira Salazar of Florida in her bid for re-election. On Tuesday, Greene expressed her disapproval in a post on X, stating, “She supports illegals more than most democrats. His endorsements are an insult to his base.”
Efforts were made by Fox News Digital to get a comment from Salazar’s campaign, but there was no immediate response. The White House also did not respond to inquiries for comment.
“EX-TRUMP ALLY MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE RIPS THE PRESIDENT’S ENDORSEMENTS, SAYING THEY ‘SOLIDIFY THE SWAMP’”
Greene has been vocal about her displeasure with Trump’s endorsements. Previously a close ally, her recent comments stem from tensions that led to her leaving office. In a previous statement in January, she remarked, “Trump’s endorsements do not drain the swamp; his endorsements solidify the swamp and ensure the swamp is never drained.”
In a Truth Social post, President Trump praised Salazar, endorsing her for re-election as a part of the GOP’s strategy to maintain its majority in Congress during the 2026 midterms. “Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar is doing a truly fantastic job representing the wonderful people of Florida’s 27th Congressional District!” Trump stated, giving her his complete endorsement.
Salazar, serving in the House of Representatives since 2021, expressed gratitude towards the president for his support. She assured her commitment to representing Florida’s 27th district by focusing on key points such as restoring the immigration system, enforcing strong border security, and addressing housing costs in Miami. She emphasized, “Miami is the ultimate melting pot, a city built by those who came here seeking liberty, opportunity, and a chance to start again.”
As discussions around these endorsements continue, a White House spokesperson, Davis Ingle, countered Greene’s remarks, highlighting Trump’s ability to build unmatched coalitions and noting his significant contributions to Republican Party accomplishments.
