Florida Man Arrested Amid Investigation into Father’s Disappearance

2 weeks ago 0

A man in Florida has been arrested as authorities probe the disappearance of his father. Investigators uncovered suspected human remains at a property in Marion County.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies began investigating the absence of 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada on May 16. He had not been seen since May 7, and a family member raised the alarm.

Investigation Triggers Concerns

Authorities indicated Bahamon-Prada shared a residence in Dunnellon with his 25-year-old son, Andres Bahamon. Detectives found evidence hinting at foul play, prompting them to consider the disappearance as a possible homicide case.

The affidavit viewed by Fox News Digital revealed Bahamon told deputies his father planned to leave with an unknown individual.

Investigators noted the disappearance of Bahamon-Prada’s silver 2007 Infiniti M35 shortly after the incident. The vehicle remains missing and might hold clues to the case.

Incident Raises Alarming Allegations

The affidavit stated that Bahamon’s mother, living in Germany, reported suspicions about her son killing his father. She encountered him near a local store, where he said that the victim was “dead and in hell.”

Investigators found shattered glass doors, a bullet hole, and a shell casing at the Dunnellon property. There were also suspected bloodstains and newly disturbed soil in the backyard.

Evidence and Arrest

Authorities discovered Bahamon allegedly sent a picture to his mother showing a man, believed to be Bahamon-Prada, lying seemingly deceased near wooden steps.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and discovered a rolled carpet buried beneath disturbed dirt, emitting an odor of decomposition. Although the remains need official identification, investigators consider them key to the case.

As the investigation unfolded, Andres Bahamon became a person of interest. He faced arrest on charges of tampering with evidence related to this missing-person investigation. Detectives suspect he attempted to cover up the crime by concealing or moving the victim’s body.

Authorities continue searching for the missing Infiniti, possibly containing case-related evidence. Those with information should contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
