At that time, Carter partnered with investigative journalist John Solomon. Together, they gathered emerging information that hinted at potential surveillance of President-elect Donald Trump by the FBI. Carter shared, “I went into John’s office and said, ‘John, I need to talk to you. I believe there are people in the FBI spying on President-elect Trump—the duly elected president of the United States.’”

Initially skeptical, Solomon sought more details, prompting him to contact his own sources. “I’m not too sure,” he said at first, but his conversations led both journalists deeper into the matter.

In 2017, Solomon encountered unnamed government officials. These officials warned him he was revealing a conspiracy aimed at undermining Trump. “You’re at the tip of a very large iceberg,” they told him during an April podcast appearance.

Solomon recounted how shortly after appearing on Hannity’s show, discussing increased unmasking of Americans, he noticed a government vehicle with its lights on near his driveway. Initially fearing arrest, he found the officials merely had an important message.

“The thing you were talking about tonight on television… it’s far deeper,” one official noted. “There is an incredible political dirty trick using the intelligence community’s immense powers.”

Encouraged to “keep looking,” Solomon’s and Carter’s continued investigation with source assistance eventually unveiled significant story details.

Carter explained to Hannity that with her contacts, they unraveled the foundation of what she considers a pivotal American story.
