1 week ago 0

A dog inadvertently fired a shotgun inside a truck at a Nebraska gas station on Saturday, injuring a woman in another vehicle, according to local authorities.

The event happened shortly after noon at the Short Stop gas station and convenience store, located at 2002 Avenue I. The Scottsbluff Police Department reported the dog was inside the vehicle after the owner went into the store. Another passenger also exited but remained near the front passenger-side door.

During this time, the dog reportedly moved in the rear seat area and came into contact with the shotgun. The firearm had a live round in the chamber and discharged when triggered, according to officials.

The blast passed through the vehicle’s front passenger-side door, traveled out of the parking lot, and hit a woman stopped at a nearby traffic light. Police indicated that a shotgun pellet struck her upper right arm, which was resting out of the window.

Her injuries were not life-threatening, and she was taken to Regional West Medical Center by a family member for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Initially, police responded to reports of the incident involving a BB gun but later confirmed it was a shotgun. The Scottsbluff Police Department is investigating, noting damage to the vehicle’s passenger-side door consistent with a shotgun blast.

Fox News Digital contacted the Scottsbluff Police Department for further information.
