U.S. Representative Thomas Massie has initiated plans for a political return by filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the 2028 election cycle. A week prior, the Kentucky Republican was defeated by Ed Gallrein in the Republican primary for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Gallrein secured 54.9 percent of the vote, leaving Massie with 45.1 percent.

Massie shared news of his new FEC filing through a post on X, made shortly after noon Eastern time on Memorial Day. He stated, “I filed with FEC for the 2028 House race. This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office. I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run.”
