President Trump’s Routine Medical Checkups at Walter Reed

1 week ago 0

President Donald Trump is scheduled for a medical checkup on Tuesday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, marking his third visit in over a year. The White House had announced this annual dental and health checkup earlier, with officials citing a statement from May 11.

Trump, who often questioned President Joe Biden’s health during his term, now faces inquiries about his own health since returning to office in January 2025. Despite his officials’ assurances of his excellent health, some medical professionals express skepticism regarding the health status of the president, who is nearing 80.

April 11, 2025: First Physical of Second Term

After resuming office last year, Trump had his annual physical exam at Walter Reed in April, lasting about five hours. The comprehensive exam included bloodwork, cardiac testing, CT scans, ultrasounds, and neurological screening. He claims to have passed the cognitive tests with excellence, advocating that all presidents should undergo similar evaluations.

The White House stated he was in “excellent health” and fit to serve. However, the report, though detailed, continued the tradition where presidents control the information released, leaving fundamental data gaps. The cognitive tests included raised questions about Trump’s mental health.

In July, Trump underwent further medical evaluation due to swelling in his lower legs and ankles, alongside bruising on his hands. This visit was unscheduled, fueled by viral photos prompting criticism about the lack of proactive communication from the White House concerning his health.

October 10, 2025: ‘Semiannual’ Checkup

Trump returned to Walter Reed in October for what was described as a routine yearly checkup, despite having his yearly physical in April. He referred to it as a “semiannual” visit, consisting of routine tests, MRI scans, and lab tests, though the White House was not forthcoming with specifics about the exam’s purpose.

May 2026 Visit: What to Know

The upcoming hospital visit, according to the announcement, will be routine, involving annual dental and medical assessments. Trump plans to meet service members and staff at Walter Reed to acknowledge their dedication to the nation.

This visit is likely to attract scrutiny, despite its routine nature, with critics and supporters keenly watching for any insights the White House might reveal about the tests or potential treatments Trump receives.
