Competitive Mayoral Race Heats Up in Los Angeles with Spencer Pratt’s Campaign

6 days ago 0

Spencer Pratt has weighed in on Governor Gavin Newsom’s endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, labeling them as ‘alleged criminal partners.’ This accusation comes amidst criticism over Bass’s management of a controversial homeless program in Los Angeles. Reports indicate that $418 million was spent, with only 10% effectively helping people leave the streets. Pratt also criticizes what he describes as corruption and mentions the misuse of animals on Skid Row. His campaign focuses on improving safety for mothers and children in Los Angeles, fueled by his personal beliefs.

Recent polls show Pratt’s mayoral campaign gaining traction against Bass as the race heads towards a likely runoff. On the final weekend before Election Day, both Bass and her challengers campaigned extensively across the city.

Bass, seeking a second term, faces competition from former reality star Spencer Pratt and city council member Nithya Raman in the upcoming primary election. Polls indicate a tight race, with no candidate expected to secure more than 50% of the vote. The top two candidates will proceed to a runoff in November.

On Saturday, Bass, backed by prominent Democrats such as former Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Newsom, campaigned at Yosemite Recreation Center in Eagle Rock. During an Instagram livestream, Bass addressed Pratt, labeling him a ‘failed reality TV star’ and indirectly referencing President Donald Trump. She criticized the potential consequences of electing a reality TV star to a political office.

Throughout the weekend, candidates made their final appeals before the Los Angeles mayoral primary election. Pratt criticized Raman on social media, challenging her campaign advertisements. In a video on Instagram, Raman cited a recent poll, urging supporters to stay engaged despite significant spending against her campaign.

Spencer Pratt, known for his role in “The Hills,” has gained recognition in the mayoral race by critiquing Bass’s response to January 2025 wildfires that devastated structures, including his own home in Pacific Palisades. His campaign also targets the city’s handling of homelessness, drug addiction, and crime. Pratt has gained momentum with endorsements from reality TV stars, actors, musicians, and media figures.

However, as a registered Republican, Pratt faces challenges in a city where Democrats typically dominate local politics.
