Reports from Switzerland indicate that Alain Prost, a four-time Formula 1 champion, sustained injuries following a home invasion. The incident occurred in Nyon, around 25 kilometers north of Geneva, as reported by Swiss media outlet Blick.
The break-in happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday. Although police have yet to officially disclose the victims’ identities, they acknowledged that the robbery targeted a family’s home. According to a statement released to BBC Sport, police shared, “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated.”
Law enforcement further stated, “The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing.” Both Swiss and French police are conducting investigations to apprehend the suspects.
Alain Prost is widely recognized as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers, competing from 1980 to 1993. Throughout his career, Prost drove for prestigious teams such as McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams. His achievements include winning the World Drivers’ Championships in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993. This record places him on par with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, trailing only Juan Manuel Fangio, Lewis Hamilton, and Michael Schumacher in career championships.
One of Prost’s most notable periods was during his time with McLaren in the late 1980s, where he engaged in fierce championship duels with his then-teammate, the legendary Ayrton Senna.
Beyond his racing career, Prost transitioned to television and launched his own team, Prost Grand Prix. He also served as an advisor to the Alpine Formula 1 team until his departure in 2022.
