Apple Unveils iPhone 17 Series and Other New Gadgets

1 week ago 0

Apple has launched its latest iPhone 17 lineup, offering four new models. The tech giant introduced the iPhone Air, its thinnest smartphone to date, along with enhanced cameras, longer battery life, and other updates across the series. These devices feature the new A19 chip, which boosts Apple’s artificial intelligence capabilities.

Impact of Tariffs on Pricing

The iPhone 17 models are Apple’s first releases since President Trump’s tariffs took effect. Despite concerns about price increases, Apple maintained similar pricing to previous years. The basic iPhone 17 starts at $800, while the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are priced at $1,100 and $1,200, respectively. The iPhone Air begins at $1,000. Some analysts worried that U.S. manufacturing considerations could hike prices significantly, but this has not yet materialized.

Camera and Battery Enhancements

The iPhone 17 models boast improved camera features. The front cameras now offer a wider field of view and advanced sensors for capturing landscape photos. Users of the iPhone Air can record videos using both front and rear cameras simultaneously. The Pro models include a stronger telephoto lens. Apple claims these phones have enhanced battery life, with the iPhone Air leading in power efficiency.

AI Features in iPhones

The iPhone 17 series includes modest AI advancements compared to its predecessor. All models run on iOS 26, which introduces features like screenshot analysis and enhanced live translation. New AI-based capabilities are integrated into the iPhone 17’s ‘Center Stage’ camera feature. Although improving, Apple’s AI features lag behind competitors, with postponed updates such as an advanced Siri.

Other Gadget Launches

Apple also introduced updates to its AirPods and watches. The AirPods Pro 3, priced at $249, includes AI-driven live translation. The new Apple Watch Series 11 offers features like sleep score tracking and hypertension notifications, pending FDA approval. The sports-focused Ultra 3 watch boasts a large display and extended battery life, priced at $799. The basic Apple Watch SE is available for $249.

These new products hit the market on September 19.
