Authorities Investigate Possible Illegal Biological Lab in Las Vegas Residence

4 months ago 0

Recent developments have emerged regarding a Las Vegas residence suspected of hosting an illegal biological laboratory. Multiple individuals who stayed in the house reportedly fell ill, a fact shared with law enforcement by a former cleaning employee using the alias “Kelly,” as mentioned in the newly released court documents. Early last month, Kelly alerted the authorities about the suspicious activities at the location, resulting in an arrest report for the property’s manager, filed with the Las Vegas Justice Court after a raid over the weekend.

According to the report, Kelly was employed by Ori Solomon, the property manager, to clean the residence, which was also listed for rent, including on platforms like Airbnb. Over the weekend, Solomon, also known as Ori Salomon, was arrested on both state and federal charges, including felony disposal or discharge of hazardous waste without authorization and possessing firearms in violation of his visa.

During her employment, Kelly recounted entering the garage in April 2025, which was frequently kept locked. Inside, she discovered several “refrigerators/freezers, glass beakers containing a reddish liquid,” alongside a biological safety cabinet and a device she presumed was a centrifuge. The garage also emitted an odor akin to “a hospital, but not a clean one; more like a stale, foul air,” as mentioned in the report.

Both the FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are involved in the investigation into the alleged illegal laboratory situated in the garage of the northeast Vegas property as of February 3, 2026.

“Kelly and Solomon’s handyman both became ‘deathly ill’ after entering the garage,” the report states. “Around five days after, she experienced breathing troubles, fatigue, severe muscle aches, and was bedridden. The handyman exhibited the same symptoms, linking their illness to the garage visit.” The report also notes that Solomon’s wife became sick following a visit to the garage.

Kelly informed authorities that numerous residents of the house had fallen ill, with one woman requiring hospitalization due to severe respiratory issues. Additionally, Kelly observed unusually high numbers of dead crickets in the master bedroom, a phenomenon she found strange in her years living in Las Vegas.

During their investigation, police and FBI agents spent the weekend removing equipment and materials from the garage, with these items subsequently sent to a secure lab on the East Coast for testing. The results are still pending. Authorities suspect the Vegas property served as a site for storing biolab equipment, probable viruses, and “biological substances.” The report indicated that the garage housed typical household refrigerators, not the medical-grade variants.

The report adds that these descriptions resemble a previous case in Reedley, California, where an illegal biolab with unauthorized agents and misbranded medical devices was uncovered. The operator, a Chinese national, was arrested in 2023 and is awaiting trial. He has pleaded not guilty.

There are allegations that Solomon had “direct knowledge of the biolab operations” associated with the Reedly operator and maintained “constant communication” since the latter’s 2023 arrest. Over 460 phone calls between Solomon and the detained individual were reported last year, with Solomon allegedly handling business operations for the Reedley operator and transferring funds to the operator’s wife and business partner, who was avoiding federal charges in China.

Kelly suggested that Solomon maintained contact with the previous operator, as the inmate apparently called him daily to check on the property. She mentioned that Solomon might remove the lab quickly if authorities contacted him.

Authorities discovered four bottles of hydrochloric acid stored insecurely on an open shelf. The report stresses that hydrochloric acid could cause severe injuries through skin contact, inhalation, or ingestion, and notes its volatility when airborne. These unsafe storage practices endangered the individuals nearby, especially considering the house’s use as a short-term rental, with an elderly resident living very close to the garage entrance.

Three individuals who had rented a room in the property were safely evacuated and are not currently part of the investigation, as confirmed by authorities.
