Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, known as the tag team FTR in professional wrestling, announced an extended absence from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). This announcement follows their loss to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an I Quit match at Double or Nothing last month. Subsequently, they relinquished their AEW World Tag Team Championship, marking the end of their third reign as champions. They have not appeared on AEW programming since.
Harwood shared a detailed message on Instagram, signaling the need for rest and recovery. He explained, “Since the summer of 2014, The Revival, FTR, Dawson & Dash, Dax & Cash, whatever you want to call us, we’ve had the pedal to the floor. Aside from my bicep tear in 2017, we’ve taken no time away from the job we dreamed of having. Physically & mentally, we both became exhausted.”
Harwood further detailed the physical challenges he faced, including hematomas, a bicep tear, labrum injury, and a shoulder in need of replacement. He emphasized the necessity of taking time off for themselves and their families, stating uncertainty about their future and whether they have more to prove.
FTR’s plans to appear in Kentucky to face Ken Anderson and Doc Gallows were shared by Harwood. He plans to enjoy a family vacation in Hawaii in the meantime.
Wheeler revealed interest in participating in New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s (NJPW) World Tag League. Speaking on “Late Night Grin,” he expressed desire to attempt a World Tag League, a long-held ambition despite potential physical constraints.
Harwood and Wheeler have established themselves as a top tag team in pro wrestling. Their achievements, including three AEW tag team titles over roughly seven years, underline their excellence in the wrestling arena.
