President Donald Trump made a light-hearted comment about being “the boss” when he arrived late for a gathering with global leaders at the G7 summit in France on Wednesday.
Upon reaching the meeting in Évian-les-Bains, Trump humorously asked the photographers who temporarily had access to the room, “Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me.” The press members were subsequently ushered out of the room.
The meeting occurred as G7 leaders expressed their backing for Trump’s proposed peace agreement with Iran. The intention is to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz.
In a collective statement, the leaders lauded the U.S. president’s “strong leadership” for what they described as a “breakthrough.”
They emphasized that the agreement, scheduled to be formally announced at a signing event on Friday, presents a “historic opportunity to prevent Iran from acquiring any nuclear weapon.”
