Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Cracks Down on Internal Leaks

4 months ago 0

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently disclosed that a “prolific leaker” responsible for releasing sensitive information and endangering federal law enforcement officers has been detained. The announcement was made public through a post on X, formerly Twitter, by Noem.

“I plan to refer this individual to @TheJusticeDept for criminal prosecution,” Noem wrote. “We are agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment, or status as a career civil servant—we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

Secretary Noem has prioritized prosecuting those leaking information within her agency as part of the Trump administration’s broader efforts to tighten security on illegal immigration. Shortly after President Trump assumed office last year, Noem revealed that two individuals within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had been implicated in unauthorized disclosures of DHS operations.

In a previous statement, Noem remarked, “We have identified two leakers of information here at the Department of Homeland Security who have been telling individuals about our operations and putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy. We plan to prosecute these two individuals and hold them accountable for what they’ve done.”

With a steadfast commitment to ensuring national safety, Noem emphasized, “We’re going to continue to do all that we can to keep America safe.”

It has been reported that these leaks have significantly increased the risks faced by DHS law enforcement officers. According to Noem, threats against DHS officers have surged by 8,000%.

Fox News Digital has reached out to DHS for further comments.
