In a contentious debate, four Democratic candidates vying to represent New York’s 12th House District faced off. The district, known for its cultural and financial influence, includes notable landmarks like the Empire State Building and Central Park.
The seat is currently held by Representative Jerrold Nadler, a key figure in President Trump’s impeachments, who announced his retirement after over 30 years in Congress.
The candidates include Alex Bores, East Side state assemblyman; Micah Lasher, West Side state assemblyman; Jack Schlossberg, John F. Kennedy’s grandson; and George T. Conway III, known for his previous marriage to Mr. Trump’s campaign manager. These individuals have shown prominence in limited public polls.
During the debate, candidate Alex Bores highlighted his legislative efforts in Albany to regulate advanced artificial intelligence models. This initiative attracted significant opposition from super PACs financially backed by AI company executives who also supported Mr. Trump.
The discussion marks a critical moment in the campaign, as the candidates prepare for the primary election on June 23.
