In a crucial Game 7 of the Western Conference finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder will play without Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell due to injuries. These setbacks have been a recurring problem throughout the series against the San Antonio Spurs, scheduled for Saturday night.
Williams faces challenges with a strained left hamstring, an issue that has hindered his performance during the playoffs. The injury forced him to miss 49 of the Thunder’s 82 regular-season games due to wrist and hamstring concerns. This game will mark the 10th playoff match Williams has missed because of these ongoing hamstring problems. Despite his efforts, Williams clocked only about 10 minutes in the recent Game 6 loss to the Spurs.
Mitchell, who was filling in for Williams, now finds himself sidelined with a strained right soleus. In response, Oklahoma City has been fielding Jared McCain in the lineup alongside teammates Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, and Chet Holmgren.
The Spurs reported no player injuries ahead of the decisive Game 7. The NBA has appointed Marc Davis, John Goble, and Josh Tiven as referees. Davis and Tiven have prior experience officiating Game 7s in these playoffs. Davis was part of the final clash between Cleveland and Detroit in Round 2, while Tiven officiated Orlando-Detroit in Round 1.
These developments set the stage for an intense showdown in the Western Conference finals.
