Left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker recently accused California of promoting ‘homo-fascism’ following the outcome of a primary election. This came after his preferred candidate, Saikat Chakrabarti, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s former chief of staff, failed to make progress in the race. In contrast, San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan and California state Senator Scott Wiener will advance to the November election, with Wiener leading at 41%.
During one of his streams, Piker criticized San Francisco and California for not being as progressive as other cities. He alleged that liberals there favor ‘gay fascism,’ referring to Wiener’s sexuality.
It’s just rich liberals who want homo-fascism in the country. That’s it,’ Piker remarked. ‘They want gay fascism. They want gay techno-fascism.
Reacting to accusations of homophobia from Twitch users, Piker reiterated his stance, stating California’s ‘wokeness’ is limited to LGBTQ issues and abortion.
California liberalism begins and ends at abortion and LGBTQ rights being protected. That’s it. Wokeness has a limit in California.
Further, Piker criticized the state’s economic priorities, saying, ‘They do not care if homeless people are being melted for biomatter or if one apartment unit costs $7 million. No economic progress whatsoever.’
Piker also expressed frustration with Senator Wiener, accusing him of dishonesty regarding statements about Israel. Piker described Wiener as a typical ‘machine politician.’
Despite supporting both Chakrabarti and gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer, as well as Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, all favored candidates faced challenges in their respective races.
