Manhunt for Kansas City Shooting Suspect Enters Seventh Day

2 hours ago 0

A large-scale manhunt continues for Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, 22, in Kansas City, Missouri, now entering its seventh day. Sanchez-Munoz is suspected of a shooting spree that left one person dead and injured four others.

Sanchez-Munoz’s family reported he was exhibiting signs of schizophrenia. The FBI has offered a $25,000 reward for information. On Wednesday, police informed Fox News of a discovery made by his family. A body, believed to be Sanchez-Munoz, was found in the basement of a burned home.

The body was discovered after the family visited the home several times following a police standoff that led to a fire. The family contacted police at around 2 p.m. local time after finding decomposing remains under debris. The odor led to the discovery.

Authorities said the basement partially collapsed, was flooded, and cluttered, complicating the search.

Sanchez-Munoz was wanted for at least six shootings across different states. The search intensified after he allegedly fired at vehicles along Interstate 70, near Arrowhead Stadium, as FIFA World Cup events took place nearby.

The shootings left several others injured, including an Uber driver transporting soccer fans. Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche speculated Sanchez-Munoz might be dead inside the Missouri home, though earlier searches by investigators, federal partners, and K-9 units did not confirm this.

Officials have now stated that clothing found on the body matched what the shooter wore during the attacks. A medical examiner will confirm the identity and cause of death. The public has been assured there is no threat, and all surviving victims are expected to recover.
